Wrightbus has secured a £150m finance package from HSBC UK to facilitate its global expansion plans and sustainability efforts. The funding includes a Revolving Credit Facility and working capital support, aiming to accelerate bus production in Northern Ireland and Malaysia. This investment will aid in the development of new technologies and expansion of product offerings, particularly focusing on the NewPower and Rightech divisions. NewPower specializes in repowering diesel buses into electric vehicles, while Rightech offers battery-electric vehicles. Wrightbus CEO, Jean-Marc Gales, expressed the importance of this deal in advancing growth and decarbonizing public transport through the production of electric and hydrogen-powered buses. The company aims to broaden its international presence, with a keen focus on the Asia Pacific market and increasing production capacity in Malaysia. The support from HSBC UK is seen as crucial in delivering operational flexibility and meeting the capital requirements necessary to be at the forefront of transport decarbonization.
