Italy's Gruppo FNM has revealed the country's first hydrogen trainset in Rovato, a crucial development for the H2iseO 'Hydrogen Valley' project aimed at decarbonising operations on the Brescia – Edolo line. The five-car Coradia Stream fuel cell multiple-unit is the first of 14 to be purchased with funding from Lombardia region and the national recovery and resilience facility. The project also includes a new depot and a mobile refuelling station, contributing to the ambitious efforts to transition to hydrogen-powered transportation. The unveiling ceremony was attended by various government officials and project stakeholders, highlighting the significance of this eco-friendly initiative. The H2iseO project, branded as Hydrogen Valley, is integral to the sustainable development of the region and aligns with broader environmental goals. With plans for commercial services to commence in 2026 and the deployment of additional hydrogen infrastructure, Italy is making substantial strides towards a greener future in public transportation.
