The Namibia Oil and Gas Conference is gearing up for its second edition in Windhoek from 20-22 August, building on the success of its first edition in 2023. The focus of this year's conference is on advancing towards a prosperous oil and gas industry in Namibia, with specific emphasis on the region's hydrocarbons sector and energy revolution. International interests are evident in the region, as seen with Chevon's acquisition of the petroleum exploration license 82. The Ministry of Mines and Energy in Namibia is working on a new regulatory framework to attract investors, with plans to start large-scale green hydrogen projects alongside oil ventures. In addition, the upcoming Global African Hydrogen Summit in Windhoek from 3-5 September will provide a platform for discussions on hydrogen projects in Africa. The NOGC 2024, organized by key entities including the Economic Association of Namibia, will feature workshops on skills development and capacity building in the energy sectors, aiming to create sustainable value chains and uplift living standards in Namibia through integrated industrial development.
