Hive Hydrogen in South Africa has recently received positive feedback concerning its 1230MW Crossroads Green Energy Cluster project. The environmental impact assessment for this initiative was deemed successful, allowing the company to move forward with its plans. Situated in De Aar, the solar PV project aims to power the Green Ammonia plant in the Coega Special Economic Zone. This $5.8bn investment is set to generate over 1 million tons of green ammonia annually, marking a flagship project for South Africa. The consortium consisting of Hive Hydrogen, Akuo Energy Afrique, Africoast Investments, and Golden Sunshine Trading has been working diligently towards this milestone, with plans to kick off the grid connection workstream. The development team, led by Chairperson Thulani Gcabashe, has been commended for completing the project within budget and on schedule. Don McGillivray of Africoast Investments highlighted the collaborative effort in co-developing a 6000 MW pipeline of solar and wind energy projects. The project is expected to benefit various provinces in South Africa by providing economic opportunities and meeting future energy demands. This achievement signifies a positive step towards sustainable energy practices and economic growth in the region.
