Nigeria is aiming to benefit from the vast potential of the global hydrogen market, estimated at $130 billion, through a strategic partnership with Germany. The Vice-President of Nigeria, Mr. Kashim Shettima, welcomed a German delegation led by Mr. Till Mansmann, the Hydrogen Commissioner of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, to discuss collaboration in developing the country's hydrogen market. The partnership aims to align Nigeria with its renewable energy objectives and the global energy transition plan, emphasizing the shift towards green energy for sustainable development. Mr. Shettima highlighted the significance of hydrogen in transforming industries like fertilizer production and expressed optimism that Nigeria's success in this area would positively impact the entire African continent. Germany, recognizing Nigeria's potential in green energy, particularly hydrogen production, emphasized the importance of partnerships with countries like Nigeria and institutions such as the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to achieve shared energy goals. Germany's commitment to transitioning to carbon neutrality by 2045 underscores the need for increased green energy imports, where Africa, including Nigeria, plays a crucial role.
