In an official statement released in New Delhi, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) and Bharat Light and Power (BLP) have announced their collaboration in the green hydrogen space. NGEL, a state-owned entity and a subsidiary of the power giant NTPC, will be working with BLP, a private clean energy generation player, to jointly explore opportunities in the green hydrogen sector. The memorandum of understanding signed between the two entities outlines plans to investigate the off-take of green hydrogen and its derivatives from NGEL to third parties. Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for exploring the sale of captured carbon or biogenic carbon from NGEL, thereby focusing on promoting sustainability and eco-friendly practices. NGEL and its affiliates will be responsible for setting up the necessary infrastructure for the green hydrogen project, which will involve renewable energy projects and operate under the build-own-operate mode.
