Air Products, a global leader in hydrogen supply, has announced an agreement to acquire Saneg's hydrogen production assets at the Fergana Oil Refinery in Uzbekistan. This strategic move is expected to enhance the operational efficiency of the refinery and pave the way for expanded commercial use of hydrogen in Uzbekistan's industrial sector. The acquisition highlights the strong partnership between Air Products and Saneg, with both companies focusing on advancing the modernization of the Fergana Refinery and supporting Uzbekistan's long-term economic goals. Seifi Ghasemi, the Chairman, President, and CEO of Air Products, emphasized the company's expertise in hydrogen production and its commitment to providing advanced solutions for the energy sector. By integrating Air Products' technology, the Fergana Refinery aims to improve its production capacity and achieve over 92% depth in the production of Euro-5 standard diesel fuel and aviation kerosene. Furthermore, the modernization program at the Fergana Refinery includes plans to expand hydrogen production to support the Uzbekistan government's strategy of diversifying energy sources. The partnership with Air Products includes the provision of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) units and a steam methane reforming (SMR) unit, essential for stable hydrogen supply from natural gas or LPG. These additions are crucial for meeting the refinery's demands and serving the broader market.
