  • Leveraging gigawatt-scale pump storage projects and a manufacturing partnership for electrolysers, the company aims to achieve efficient green ammonia production with up to 90% utilization of deployed electrolyzers.
AM Green Ammonia B.V. has announced the Final Investment Decision (FID) for its green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, with plans to produce 5 million tons of green ammonia annually by 2030. The project will involve converting an existing urea plant into a green ammonia-producing unit, meeting EU RFNBO norms for green ammonia certification. Most of the production will be exported to European markets. The company has secured agreements with key industry players for offtake, including Uniper, Yara, and Keppel, aiming to utilize green hydrogen in various applications. Additionally, a 25-year fixed-price power purchase agreement with NTPC has been established for half of the required carbon-free power, with the rest expected to be supplied by Gentari. By leveraging reliable power sources like solar, wind, and pump storage projects, AM Green Ammonia plans to ensure efficient and eco-friendly production. The company also has a manufacturing partnership for electrolysers to facilitate green hydrogen production, aiming for up to 90% utilization of the deployed electrolyzers. Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, highlighted the significance of achieving the FID status for the Kakinada project. He emphasized the company's commitment to providing carbon-free energy solutions and its contribution to decarbonizing various industries. Moreover, AM Green is focused on expanding green ammonia production across multiple locations in India to achieve its targeted capacity by 2030, aligning with national and global green hydrogen goals.
