The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has significantly increased its funding commitment to renewable projects in the fiscal year 2023-2024. Allocating a total of $392.5m to support 72 projects, ARENA's investment has shown growth from the previous year's $358m for 35 projects. This funding boost was made possible through the assessment and approval process for key funding rounds, including Community Batteries Round 1 and the Hydrogen and Iron & Steel Funding Rounds. ARENA's CEO, Darren Miller, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to maximize the benefits of renewable energy across Australia. In addition to the ongoing projects, ARENA introduced new funding opportunities in the current fiscal year, such as the Hydrogen Headstart Round 1 with $2b in funding, Solar Sunshot with $1b, and the Battery Breakthrough Initiative with $500m.
