Indonesia's state-owned power company, PT PLN (Persero), is leading the way in sustainable energy innovation by launching the Connext Powered by PLN program. This initiative aims to support PLN's transformation into a more adaptive and innovative energy company, working towards achieving net zero emissions. To drive this transformation, PLN is seeking collaboration with startups across Asia to foster innovation and growth. A recent visit by PLN delegates to Japan highlighted the country's ambitious startup development plan and its leadership in energy-related innovation, particularly in areas like hydrogen and fuel cells, e-Mobility, solar energy, energy storage, and carbon capture. During the visit, PLN engaged with Japanese startups involved in renewable technology, hydrogen, ammonia power generation, AI, and semiconductor innovations, aiming to enhance the clean energy transition and digital transformation in Indonesia. An important outcome of the visit was the signing of an MoU with Creww, an open innovation platform in Japan, marking PLN's first international collaboration under the program. This partnership opens doors for PLN to engage with Creww's extensive network of startups and accelerator programs, facilitating future collaborations across the region. PLN's President Director highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative in fostering an innovative ecosystem and creating opportunities for green energy startups. The Connext program, initiated in 2023, has successfully connected energy startups in Indonesia, and PLN plans to expand its reach in the region to further strengthen the sustainable energy ecosystem through collaboration with startups.
