Gensol Engineering Limited, in partnership with Matrix Gas & Renewables, has been awarded the contract to establish a green hydrogen valley in Pune, Maharashtra. The project will operate on a build, own, and operate (BOO) model and will supply green hydrogen to Pune's specialty chemical sector under a 20-year offtake agreement. Anmol Jaggi, the managing director of Gensol Engineering, highlighted the Indian government's support for hydrogen valleys as a significant development. The project aims to supply green hydrogen continuously to Pune's specialty chemical sector, contributing to the growth of India's green hydrogen economy. Chirag Kotecha, the whole-time director of Matrix Gas & Renewables, mentioned the involvement of the National Chemicals Laboratories (NCL) in facilitating the project. Additionally, the Gensol-Matrix consortium has won the contract for India's first bio-hydrogen project, which will convert bio-waste into hydrogen on a daily basis. This INR1.64bn ($20mn) project is expected to be operational within one and a half years. The consortium plans to further collaborate in the green hydrogen sector and explore derivatives such as green steel and green ammonia.
