Hydrogène de France (HDF Energy), a prominent player in green hydrogen infrastructure and fuel cell manufacturing, has forged a strengthened partnership with the Department of Energy (DoE) and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) through a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Manila, Philippines. The MoU signifies a pivotal agreement to drive research and development in efficient technologies for utilizing renewable energy sources and locally produced green hydrogen across targeted regions in the Philippines. The collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of Renewstable® multi-megawatt hydrogen power plants, offering a sustainable alternative to diesel fuel power plants by leveraging solar or wind energy and water to generate electricity. This initiative is crucial in combating climate change impacts and ensuring reliable electricity supply, particularly in areas dependent on polluting diesel-fueled grids. HDF Energy, in conjunction with the DoE and MinDA, commits to fostering investments in renewable energy technologies, emphasizing hydrogen-based solutions to propel the country's energy transition strategy. The MoU signing involved key figures such as Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla of the DoE, Secretary Leo Tereso Magno of MinDA, and Mathieu Geze, President & Director of HDF Energy Philippines Holdings Incorporated, demonstrating a collective dedication to sustainable energy development. Furthermore, the partnership between HDF Energy and Reurasia, a Philippine company specializing in renewable energy solutions, is set to catalyze transformative changes in the nation's energy landscape. The collaboration seeks to establish 15 projects in the Philippines, valued at USD 1.5 billion, with a significant focus on implementing 10 projects in Mindanao to drive environmental sustainability. Key stakeholders, including government officials and the French Ambassador to the Philippines, have expressed optimism about the MoU's potential to advance the country's energy goals and enhance energy security.
