The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in association with the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), organized a two-day India-UK Standards Partnership Workshop on Green Hydrogen in New Delhi. The primary objective of the workshop was to strengthen cooperation between India and the UK in the field of hydrogen standardization, specifically focusing on green hydrogen production and regulations. The event, part of the UK Government’s Standards Partnership program, aimed to promote the use of international standards in India to facilitate growth, attract investments, and improve trade relations. The workshop highlighted the importance of developing safe, scalable, and globally harmonized Regulations, Codes, and Standards (RCS) for the green hydrogen sector, along with the adoption of fast-track Publicly Available Specification (PAS) standards and global hydrogen certification. The event saw active participation from industry experts, policymakers, and technical specialists from both countries, emphasizing the mutual commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the green hydrogen domain. Speakers at the workshop acknowledged the shared ambition of India and the UK to lead in green hydrogen technology, aligning with the goal of achieving a net-zero future. The workshop also provided a platform to identify gaps in existing standards, explore new areas, and leverage global best practices to enhance India’s certification, testing, and standardization processes to support a sustainable and competitive green hydrogen economy. The collaborative efforts at the workshop are in line with BIS's initiatives under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, further driving the advancement of green hydrogen technologies and regulations in both countries.
