Japan is set to announce its support for hydrogen-related projects in Southeast Asia during the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) ministerial meeting in Singapore. A partnership between the Japan Hydrogen Association and Advantage Partners Inc. will establish a ¥150 billion fund to finance projects like hydrogen power generation and fuel liquefaction technology. The goal is to stimulate private-sector investments and facilitate the use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel for thermal power generation. The IPEF, involving 14 countries including Japan, the United States, and South Korea, aims to promote a clean economy through decarbonization and a fair economy by strengthening anti-corruption measures. Despite ongoing trade negotiations, the agreement on clean and fair economy initiatives is expected to be finalized. Economy, Trade, and Industry Minister Ken Saito will represent Japan at the meeting to discuss these crucial economic and sustainability matters.
