Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) has entered into an agreement for the marine shipment of green ammonia to Japan in collaboration with Kyushu Electric Power Company, Sojitz Corporation, and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte. Ltd. The signing event, attended by NYK's Takahiro Rokuroda, took place in Delhi, India. The project aims to produce competitive green ammonia in India, utilizing its abundant renewable energy resources. A preliminary deal was established to supply green ammonia to industrial clients in Japan, particularly in the Kyushu area. The agreement involves generating 200,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia annually and leveraging NYK's expertise in ammonia maritime transport. Additionally, JERA Co., Inc. achieved a significant milestone by conducting the world's first truck-to-ship bunkering of fuel ammonia for an ammonia-fueled tugboat operated by NYK Line.
