Senoko Energy has announced a strategic partnership with Gentari, a clean energy provider, to explore the import of hydrogen gas from Malaysia into Singapore. This hydrogen will be utilized in Senoko's gas turbine systems, with the aim of enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions. The 20-year supply agreement, set to commence by 2029, is projected to decrease emissions by 18,000 tonnes of CO2 annually in its initial phase, with the potential for future reductions reaching up to 535,000 tonnes. Senoko Energy is aspiring to be the pioneer in Singapore to leverage hydrogen for power generation, aligning with the country's ambitious 2050 net-zero objective. Frederik Baerts, President & CEO of Senoko Energy, emphasized the pivotal role of hydrogen in mitigating carbon emissions and underlined the collaboration as a proactive step towards establishing a sustainable energy landscape and a low-carbon future. Michèle Azalbert, Chief Hydrogen Officer at Gentari, echoed these sentiments by highlighting the partnership's significance in constructing a hydrogen infrastructure for Southeast Asia. The cross-border pipeline infrastructure is envisioned to connect production and demand centers, fostering the acceleration of green hydrogen adoption throughout the region.
