Toyota Motor Philippines recently presented the Next Generation Tamaraw and a hydrogen-powered concept vehicle to President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. at Malacañan Palace, underlining their support for sustainable mobility and the growth of the local automotive sector. President Marcos acknowledged TMP's significant P5.5 billion investment in the country, which includes initiatives for local production, parts sourcing, and new conversion capabilities for the Philippine-designed Tamaraw, also known as the Toyota IMV 0. This adaptable vehicle is tailored to cater to the requirements of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with TMP aspiring to position it as a 'national car.' Additionally, TMP introduced their 'Beyond Zero' initiative, which aligns with the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) and the Philippine Energy Plan, with the aim of advancing carbon neutrality. The unveiling of the Corolla Cross H2 Concept, featuring a Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine, exemplifies TMP's commitment to diverse decarbonization pathways. Toyota Asia Region CEO Masahiko Maeda emphasized Toyota's endeavor to offer appropriate vehicle technology aligned with the country's energy strategy. As a gesture of support, TMP pledged to donate five converted Tamaraw units as ambulances for the 'Lab For All' health program. This act underscores TMP's dedication to promoting clean energy solutions while addressing fundamental mobility requirements nationwide.
