French industrial gas supplier, Air Liquide, has received a €110 million grant from the European Innovation Fund for its ENHANCE project in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Belgium. The project aims to establish a sustainable supply chain for low-carbon and renewable hydrogen by utilizing ammonia as a feedstock, with plans to retrofit existing hydrogen production facilities. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce CO2 emissions by more than 300,000 tonnes annually, particularly benefiting hard-to-abate sectors like maritime transport. Air Liquide's ENHANCE project represents a significant step towards a viable infrastructure for renewable hydrogen in Europe.
