Boeing has entered into a strategic partnership with Norsk e-Fuel to support the development of an industrial scale Power-to-Liquids (PtL) facility in Europe, focusing on accelerating the production and availability of next-generation Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the Nordic region. This collaboration involves Boeing making an undisclosed investment to facilitate the production of e-SAF, a synthetically produced liquid hydrocarbon created by combining 'green' hydrogen with CO2 through the Fischer-Tropsch pathway. The project aims to address the growing demand for SAF, driven by national and international mandates for increased usage. Norsk e-Fuel, founded in 2019, plans to establish several fuel production plants, with a major emphasis on serving the aviation industry. The partnership with Boeing is expected to enhance the commercialization of SAF in the Nordics and globally, aligning with sustainability goals and initiatives like Refuel EU. The investment will leverage Norway's abundant renewable electricity resources and expertise in the hydrogen sector. Additionally, Norsk e-Fuel is exploring the development of production sites in Finland with significant annual capacities.
