The VVR Green renewable hydrogen production project, owned by DH2 Energy, has been awarded the Potential National Interest (PIN) status by the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP). This status signifies the project's importance for Portugal's economy and its positive impact on the region. Located in Vila Velha de Ródão, the plant combines 35 MW of electrolysis capacity with 49 MW of solar photovoltaic power to produce 1,650 tons of renewable hydrogen per year in its initial phase. The project, supported by a captive solar PV plant and grid connection, is set for expansion to 75 MW of electrolysis and 100 MW of solar PV in the future. DH2 Energy's director in Portugal, Nuno Gonçalves, expressed satisfaction with the recognition and highlighted the project's role in advancing decarbonization and economic growth in the area. The VVR Green initiative not only aligns with sustainable energy practices but also aims to contribute to the revitalization of the regional economy. With a focus on renewable energy production and hydrogen, this project represents a significant step towards a greener and more economically vibrant future for Portugal.
