Enagás, a key player in the energy sector, has received approval from the Council of Ministers to commence the formal process for granting authorizations related to European Projects of Common Interest, with a specific focus on hydrogen networks. This approval marks a crucial step in the development of hydrogen infrastructures in Spain and Europe. Enagás' strategic plan for the years 2022 to 2030 places significant emphasis on advancing hydrogen infrastructures to contribute to both the security of energy supply and the decarbonization goals of the region. By creating a subsidiary dedicated to hydrogen infrastructure and aligning its financial strategies, Enagás aims to lead the transition towards green hydrogen. With a strong focus on technical innovation, Enagás has established the Hydrogen Technology Observatory to promote advancements in renewable hydrogen technologies. Additionally, collaboration agreements with other industry players, such as GRTgaz, Teréga, and REN, demonstrate Enagás' commitment to fostering partnerships for the development of hydrogen projects. The regulatory framework, supported by European Regulation (EU) 2022/869 and Royal Decree-Law 8/2023, enables Enagás to not only apply for authorizations for hydrogen projects but also represent Spain in the European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen.
