EU President Ursula von der Leyen attended the Egypt-EU Investment Conference in Cairo, where she, alongside President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, oversaw the signing of more than 20 memoranda of understanding between European and Egyptian companies, amounting to over 40 billion euros. The areas covered by these MoUs include hydrogen, water, construction, chemicals, shipping, aviation, and cars. Additionally, a 25 million euro agreement was inked to provide digital and technological training for Egyptians to foster skilled labor and job creation. Von der Leyen expressed optimism about the EU-Egypt partnership, stating that cooperation between the two entities in both public and private sectors can achieve remarkable outcomes. She emphasized the significance of Egypt as a gateway for Europe, highlighting the country's welfare as crucial for the region. Furthermore, von der Leyen underscored the deepened relations between the EU and Egypt, focusing on various aspects such as trade, energy, water, and skills development to bolster the partnership.
