The European Union (EU) is set to establish a non-profit organization named the European System of Hydrogen Network Operators (ENNOH) in 2025. This organization will play a vital role in collaborating with the EU's Hydrogen Transmission Network Operators (HTNO) to meet the decarbonization commitments. ENNOH's mission is to ensure the efficient operation of the hydrogen market within the EU and globally. The organization will focus on developing network codes, providing technical recommendations, and supporting regional cooperation. Moreover, ENNOH aims to identify synergies and promote the integration of energy carriers to enhance the overall efficiency of the EU energy system. EU regulations further stipulate that gas pipelines supplying to the EU must incorporate 5-20% hydrogen or a combination of low-carbon gases by 2026-2027. This initiative demonstrates the EU's commitment to transitioning towards cleaner energy sources and reducing carbon emissions in line with its decarbonization goals.
