Provaris, Uniper, and Norwegian Hydrogen have signed a conditional Term Sheet for hydrogen supply, transport, and offtake, targeting a binding Hydrogen Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) by June 2025. The collaboration aims to deliver 42,500 tonnes annually of RFNBO hydrogen using Provaris' H2Neo carriers to Uniper in North-Western Europe, starting early-2029 for a minimum 10-year term. This initiative represents Europe's first regional hydrogen marine transport project at scale. The partnership emphasizes simplifying hydrogen supply chains, focusing on regionally sourced hydrogen from the Nordics transported via Provaris' compressed carriers to reduce energy consumption and deliver higher renewable energy volumes. Provaris and Norwegian Hydrogen are working on developing RFNBO compliant hydrogen supply from the Nordics, including sites like the FjordH2 Project in Norway, with planned storage and shipping infrastructure using H2Neo carriers and H2Leo barge storage. Uniper is responsible for selecting the import terminal and collaborating on the infrastructure to discharge H2Neo carriers into the European Hydrogen Backbone for various industrial sectors. The Term Sheet outlines key terms for negotiation towards a Hydrogen SPA, focusing on RFNBO certified hydrogen and efficient hydrogen transportation to support Europe’s decarbonization goals. The collaboration signifies a significant step towards advancing regional hydrogen supply and transportation, aligning with the European energy transition objectives.
