First Hydrogen Corp. has announced its expansion plans in Europe with a specific focus on Germany's hydrogen economy. Germany's expertise in precision, efficiency, and technology, along with major auto manufacturing players like Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, align well with First Hydrogen's goal of incorporating its hydrogen-powered-fuel-cell light commercial vehicle into the hydrogen ecosystem. Germany declared a national hydrogen strategy in 2020, committing to green hydrogen production as the main energy carrier for the future. The country has also drafted new hydrogen legislation to establish a 9,700-kilometre hydrogen highway utilizing existing natural gas infrastructure, with 17 Hydrogen Valleys in various stages of development. These Hydrogen Valleys encompass production, storage, end-use, and connective infrastructure to create a regional clean hydrogen ecosystem along the hydrogen highway, essential for Europe to achieve its 2050 Net Zero target. The European Commission has approved significant funding for hydrogen projects, supporting around 120 projects involving European companies. First Hydrogen's CEO highlighted Europe's shift away from fossil fuels towards clean hydrogen, emphasizing Germany's €4.6 billion funding for hydrogen projects. The Company's innovative hydrogen-powered-fuel-cell vehicles have been successfully trialled in the UK, showcasing their commitment to zero-emission transport. In addition to vehicle development, First Hydrogen is working on establishing a green hydrogen production facility and vehicle assembly factory in Quebec, further contributing to the clean energy transition.
