Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) and marine infrastructure specialist Höegh Evi have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly establish international supply chains for clean hydrogen. This collaboration is set to focus on ammonia-based solutions to supply clean hydrogen to Germany and other European locations. SEFE's Chief Strategy Officer expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the potential to explore various supply chain opportunities. The strategic alliance aims to leverage Höegh Evi's floating import terminal technology, which includes converting ammonia to hydrogen, and SEFE's expertise in customer insights to create global clean hydrogen supply chains. The partnership will involve sourcing ammonia, transporting it via specialized ships, and converting it into hydrogen at floating import terminals before supplying it through Germany's hydrogen core grid. Höegh Evi's CEO emphasized the initiative's importance in promoting Europe's energy transition and highlighted the collaboration's role in cost-effective clean hydrogen production and supply. Both companies will work on identifying suitable locations for floating ammonia-to-hydrogen terminals across Europe, with SEFE managing ammonia sourcing and downstream operations, and Höegh Evi overseeing midstream operations and terminal infrastructure. Through this partnership, SEFE and Höegh Evi aim to contribute to Europe's clean energy landscape by meeting the demand for sustainable energy solutions and driving global decarbonization efforts.
