GLS Germany has recently completed a milestone 30,000-kilometer trial with a Hyundai Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck, in partnership with Allison Transmission. The successful trial involved delivering over 100,000 packages in the greater Cologne area, showcasing the potential for sustainable logistics in Europe. The trial, which commenced in March 2024, highlighted the reliability and performance of the eco-friendly vehicle, which has been utilized for long-distance trips between Cologne and Mannheim. The Allison 4000 Series™ automatic transmission and the hydrogen fuel cell system, offering 180 kilowatts and a 350-kilowatt electric motor, played crucial roles in enhancing the truck's efficiency and power. With zero breakdowns reported during the trial, the truck's agility and quiet operation have made it suitable for night deliveries in urban areas. Personnel from GLS, including Operations Manager Oualid Hamza and Regional Manager Gero Liebig, have praised the technology for its reliability, performance, and ease of maneuverability.
