Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) has entered into a partnership with Central European Gas Hub AG (CEGH) to collaborate on trading platforms for green gases, with a particular focus on hydrogen and biomethane. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between IGX and CEGH aims to explore opportunities in natural gas and renewable gases trading, leveraging the expertise of both parties in their respective markets. The key objectives of the partnership include enhancing technical, operational, and regulatory capabilities in natural gas trading, as well as developing trading platforms for green hydrogen and biomethane.
The initiative seeks to create a liquid and transparent gas market by sharing insights from both the Indian and European gas markets and implementing international best practices. The collaboration also includes plans to support gas hub operations in India and work on market development, training programs, and commodity-related certificates. Rajesh Kumar Mendiratta, MD & CEO of IGX, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the potential to accelerate the development of India's gas market and expand the role of renewable gases. Similarly, Gottfried Steiner, CEO of CEGH, emphasized the importance of regulatory frameworks, trading facilities, and gas hub development in shaping international gas markets.
As part of the agreement, tailored training programs, workshops, and certification courses will be developed to enhance skills among market participants, regulators, and stakeholders in India. The collaboration aims to drive innovation, strengthen market efficiency, and promote a sustainable energy future. Through the exchange of expertise and best practices, IGX and CEGH aim to create a seamless, technology-driven trading experience while advancing India's ambition for a gas-based economy and sustainable energy landscape.
