Irizar, a manufacturer in Spain, has announced its readiness for mass production of the i6S Efficient Hydrogen zero-emission coach following a successful test drive. The coach showcased remarkable performance, covering 900km during a 2,500km round trip between Ormaiztegi in Spain and Briançon in France, crossing the Alps and setting a record for the longest distance driven by a hydrogen coach in Europe. The journey included efficient hydrogen fuelling stops at various stations, with the process taking less than 20 minutes each time. Additionally, the coach generated huge interest in clean technologies during its presentation in the French region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. Irizar's Export Director expressed pride in the achievement, highlighting the company's pioneering role in sustainable mobility and the potential for widespread adoption of clean technologies across Europe. The hydrogen coach features power generation through a fuel cell and drive by an electric motor with a three-speed gearbox, with key components sourced from European partners. Irizar's shift towards mass production and related projects signifies a significant step towards promoting environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
