Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) and Hydrogen Technology Platform (HYTEP) have entered into a collaboration agreement to work on clean hydrogen technology development and information exchange, with a focus on leveraging nuclear technology. The memorandum of understanding was signed during the Korea-Czech Industry & Energy Technology Cooperation Forum in Prague. The partnership aims to enhance global competitiveness in the clean hydrogen market by cooperating on technology development, business support, and policy improvement in hydrogen-related fields. KHNP plans to use its expertise and business capacities to expand into the European clean hydrogen market. The collaboration also involves building clean hydrogen infrastructure and developing hydrogen technology in Europe. HYTEP, initiated by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, supports mutual awareness and coordination of activities related to hydrogen technologies. The future of hydrogen production is shifting towards zero-carbon methods, with a focus on electrolysis using renewable sources or off-peak capacity from nuclear reactors. The collaboration between KHNP and HYTEP aims to explore zero-carbon hydrogen production using nuclear energy and thermochemical processes. This partnership signifies a step towards sustainable energy practices and global competitiveness in the clean hydrogen industry.
