Lhyfe and KEYOU Partner to Boost Hydrogen Mobility in Germany
Key Ideas
  • Lhyfe and KEYOU have signed an MoU to enhance hydrogen mobility in Germany, with a production plant in Schwäbisch Gmünd set to produce 4 tonnes of green hydrogen daily.
  • KEYOU plans to deploy 100 hydrogen-powered vehicles in the coming years, starting with Schwäbisch-Gmünd, supported by a supply of 1,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually.
  • Lhyfe's agreements with EDP Renewables and H2 MOBILITY Deutschland ensure a steady supply of renewable electricity and green hydrogen for transportation, including fueling stations in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
  • The project signifies a significant step towards sustainable transportation and the expansion of hydrogen infrastructure in Germany, showcasing the increasing focus on green energy solutions.
Lhyfe and KEYOU have collaborated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to propel hydrogen mobility in Germany and Europe. Lhyfe is in the process of establishing a production plant in Schwäbisch Gmünd, close to Stuttgart, with operations scheduled to commence by the end of the year. The facility is projected to generate up to 4 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, powered by a 10 MW installed capacity. To ensure a consistent supply of renewable electricity, Lhyfe has secured a 15-year corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EDP Renewables. KEYOU intends to introduce around 100 hydrogen-fueled vehicles between 2026 and 2030, starting in the Schwäbisch-Gmünd region and later expanding to other parts of Germany. The initiative will involve a gradual increase in the deployment of hydrogen-powered trucks, with an annual growth rate of 20 trucks and an estimated hydrogen demand of approximately 1,000 tonnes per year to cater to the fleet. In an earlier agreement, Lhyfe inked a five-year deal with H2 MOBILITY Deutschland to provide green hydrogen for the transportation sector. Initially, this supply will support four H2 MOBILITY fueling stations situated in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, with the first stations located in Ludwigshafen and Frankenthal. This collaboration highlights a positive step towards sustainable transportation and the development of hydrogen infrastructure in Germany, underscoring the increasing emphasis on environmentally friendly energy solutions.
