In a significant development, Italy, along with Germany, Austria, Algeria, and Tunisia, has signed a joint declaration of intent in Rome to pursue the development of the Southern Hydrogen Corridor. This ambitious infrastructure project envisions transporting renewable hydrogen over 3300 kilometers from North Africa to Italy, Austria, and Germany. The countries involved have expressed their commitment to advancing the 'SouthH2 Corridor', as evidenced by their participation in the first Pentaministerial Meeting organized in Rome. The meeting, chaired by key officials including Antonio Tajani and Gilberto Pichetto, underscored the strategic importance of the project. Additionally, an Entrepreneurial Forum following the Ministerial Meeting brought together industry players from the signatory countries to explore opportunities in the hydrogen supply chain. Italy's Vice President Tajani emphasized the country's energy strategy, highlighting the importance of renewable sources, hydrogen, and nuclear energy in achieving energy goals. Minister Pichetto echoed the sentiment, expressing readiness to play a central role in the renewable and sustainable future of the hydrogen sector.
