Norwegian Hydrogen AS Partnership for Hydrogen Supply to North-Western Europe
Key Ideas
- Norwegian Hydrogen AS, Provaris, and Uniper have signed an MOU to develop hydrogen supply routes from the Nordics to North-Western Europe.
- The collaboration aims to explore the possibility of Uniper off-taking RFNBO compliant H2 from Norwegian Hydrogen's export projects, facilitated by Provaris.
- The partnership also involves the use of Provaris' GH2 Carriers and GH2 Storage barges for transport of compressed gaseous hydrogen to designated ports.
- The companies plan to strategically locate hydrogen production and compression facilities in the Nordic region to ensure cost-competitive supply to Europe.
Norwegian Hydrogen AS has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Provaris and Uniper to enhance the development of hydrogen supply routes from the Nordics to import hubs in North-Western Europe. The collaboration aims to investigate the potential for Uniper to procure RFNBO compliant hydrogen from export ventures led by Norwegian Hydrogen in partnership with Provaris. The hydrogen supply will be in the form of compressed gaseous H2, with transport facilitated by Provaris' GH2 Carriers and GH2 Storage barges to ports specified by Uniper. Building on their existing partnership, Provaris and Norwegian Hydrogen have extended their collaboration to expedite the establishment of new hydrogen export sites in the Nordic region. These projects, leveraging insights from previous pre-development work for the FjordH2 initiative, will be strategically positioned in areas with strong grid connections and power sources. The goal of this expansion is to establish hydrogen production and compression facilities that can offer competitive supply to European markets, furthering the region's transition towards sustainable energy sources.
