Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals provider, has unveiled Eka HP Puroxide, a groundbreaking low-carbon hydrogen peroxide product, marking a significant step in sustainability efforts. This novel solution caters to industries like pulp and paper, mining, and water treatment, aiding them in substantially cutting down their Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions. By leveraging a synergy between sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide manufacturing processes, Nouryon can offer a regional hydrogen peroxide variant with a remarkably reduced carbon footprint of up to 90% as opposed to conventional natural gas steam reforming methods. The product's creation involves utilizing fossil-free hydrogen from Nouryon's chlorate production and oxygen from the air, ensuring an exceptionally low carbon footprint. This approach sets it apart from traditional techniques reliant on natural gas, with Eka HP Puroxide being exclusively produced in Sweden through renewable electricity.
