The Occitanie region is taking significant steps towards becoming a key player in the renewable hydrogen sector as part of its 'Positive energy' strategy. With a budget of EUR 150 million allocated for the period 2019-2030, the region aims to drive the large-scale deployment of competitive hydrogen solutions. The focus is on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and atmospheric pollution, contributing to a sustainable future. The plan, consisting of 11 measures, covers all aspects from production to distribution and applications, emphasizing the importance of public support in this rapidly expanding sector. By mobilizing various sectoral policies and agencies, Occitanie is leveraging its resources to ensure a leading role both nationally and in Europe. The Corridor H2 European project stands out as a key initiative under this plan, promoting the use of renewable hydrogen in heavy vehicles, cold chain transportation for fresh products, and regional interurban buses. This comprehensive approach underscores the region's commitment to green technology, regional development, and sustainability.
