Key Ideas
- Scale Gas receives full funding approval from the European Commission for the deployment of six renewable hydrogen refuelling stations in Spain.
- The project, named ECOhynet, will contribute to the Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network, offering renewable hydrogen at 350 and 700 bars for various vehicles.
- The CEF funds amount to over 8 million euros, supporting a joint investment exceeding 26.7 million euros for the initiative.
- In addition to this project, CINEA has allocated significant funding to 39 other projects focused on alternative fuel infrastructure across the Trans-European Transport Network.
Scale Gas, a subsidiary of Enagás, has been granted full financial backing by the European Commission for the establishment of six hydrogen refuelling stations in Spain. The initiative, part of the ECOhynet project, aims to enhance the country's transportation network by facilitating the availability of renewable hydrogen for light and heavy vehicles. The refuelling stations, with a daily capacity of 1,000 kg each, will serve the Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network. The project received more than 8 million euros in funds from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) under the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). This financial support, totaling over 26.7 million euros in joint investment, underscores the commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, CINEA has allocated around €422 million to 39 projects dedicated to advancing alternative fuel supply infrastructure along the Trans-European Transport Network. This funding injection represents a significant step towards promoting eco-friendly transportation options and reducing carbon emissions in the region.
