Siemens and Boson Energy have announced a collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work on a groundbreaking technology that converts non-recyclable waste into clean hydrogen energy. This initiative aims to bolster local energy security and promote the utilization of hydrogen-powered electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The partnership's main focus lies in developing a Waste-to-X solution, where non-recyclable waste is transformed into clean hydrogen, thereby reducing the dependence on fossil fuels and contributing to a circular economy. Siemens, with its vast experience and diverse portfolio, is set to provide consultancy and technology solutions for this project, utilizing resources from its Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, which encompasses automation, digitalization, electrification, and instrumentation. By broadening the hydrogen pool, the collaboration seeks to establish a scalable and replicable solution for the waste-to-X technology, exploring a broader range of applications for clean hydrogen. Boson Energy, known for its pioneering work in the waste-to-energy sector, has set ambitious goals to build more than 300 plants by 2030 with a production capacity of one million tons of hydrogen. This endeavor holds the promise of significantly reducing CO2 emissions and fostering a more sustainable energy landscape.
