TotalEnergies and Air Products have signed a significant 15-year agreement for the delivery of 70,000 tons of green hydrogen annually in Europe starting from 2030. This long-term deal is part of TotalEnergies' initiative to source 500,000 tons per year of green hydrogen to decarbonize its European refineries. Air Products will supply green hydrogen to TotalEnergies' refineries in Northern Europe, helping to avoid around 700,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The collaboration aligns with TotalEnergies' target to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030. Additionally, Air Products' commitment to investing in clean hydrogen projects on a large scale has been highlighted. The partnership also involves TotalEnergies supplying green power to Air Products and exploring renewable power purchase agreements in multiple countries. TotalEnergies' focus on using green hydrogen in its European refineries is part of its strategy to significantly decrease its carbon footprint by approximately five million tons per year by 2030.
