TotalEnergies and Air Products have entered into a 15-year green hydrogen supply agreement with the goal of decreasing the greenhouse gas emissions footprint of TotalEnergies' European refineries. TotalEnergies plans to substitute 500,000 tons of their hydrogen consumption with green hydrogen by 2030, which could lead to a substantial annual reduction of around 5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. This move is part of the companies' commitment to promoting a cleaner energy future, especially for industries with challenging emissions profiles. Air Products' significant investment of $15 billion in energy transition projects, including green hydrogen production, underscores the pivotal role of hydrogen in mitigating emissions in heavy industry and other sectors. The partnership also involves TotalEnergies supplying Air Products with renewable power from a solar project in Texas, with additional plans for exploring similar opportunities in the UK, Poland, and France.
