Wrightbus, a zero-emission bus manufacturer based in Northern Ireland, has announced its expansion into Europe with a significant hydrogen bus order in Germany. The company has successfully delivered 31 hydrogen buses to operator RVK, marking their first presence on European soil. These buses are currently undergoing testing before being put into service in the Cologne region. In addition to this milestone, Wrightbus has secured additional hydrogen bus deals with operators like Saarbahn, Vestische, Cottbus, and West Verkehr. To support its European operations, the company has opened a new service center in Bruhl and is increasing its workforce to supply buses to France and Benelux. Furthermore, Wrightbus recently signed a groundbreaking deal valued at up to 500 million pounds to supply more than 1,000 zero-emission buses to operator Go-Ahead over the next three years, with a focus on sustainable transport solutions. CEO Jean-Marc Gales praised the teams involved in these endeavors and highlighted the technical challenges faced in entering the European market.
