The Adani Group's Vizhinjam Port in Kerala is making waves in the maritime industry as it gears up to welcome its first mothership on July 12, marking a significant milestone in the completion of the first phase of the project. Divya S. Iyer, the Managing Director of the port, highlighted the importance of this event and the presence of Union Ministers and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during the occasion. The port, set to be the first exclusive trans-shipment port in India, will also boast the title of the country's first semi-automated container terminal. Additionally, Vizhinjam Port will serve as a global bunkering hub, providing clean fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, aligning with environmental sustainability goals. With a natural draft of 18 meters, the port is poised to accommodate some of the world's largest container ships, further solidifying its position in the industry. Strategically located near major international shipping routes, the port is expected to begin full-fledged commercial operations by the end of the year, enhancing maritime connectivity.
