IIT Hyderabad, in partnership with Monash University, Australia, organized a two-day workshop at IIT Hyderabad focusing on critical minerals research under the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH). The workshop aimed to advance research and innovation in critical minerals with an emphasis on sustainable methodologies for exploration, extraction, and recycling. The event brought together researchers, academicians, and industry leaders from India and Australia. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the role of critical minerals in green energy and sustainable development, expressing the Telangana government's commitment to produce 20,000 MW of green energy by 2030 and advance green hydrogen technology. An MoU was signed to promote sustainable mining research between IIT Hyderabad and The Singareni Collieries Company Limited. The Australian Consul General in Bengaluru, Hilary McGeachy, praised the collaboration in critical minerals between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and supply chain diversification in supporting the transition to clean energy.
