The Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform was recently launched in New Delhi during the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal. This platform is a strategic initiative aimed at bolstering India's cleantech value chains in crucial sectors such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage. The primary goal of the platform is to enhance collaboration, innovation, and financing within the clean energy domain, positioning India as a global frontrunner in sustainability efforts. During the launch event, Shri Goyal underlined the significance of achieving self-sustaining growth in the cleantech sector. He stressed that while government incentives like Product Linked Incentives (PLIs) can kickstart the industry, sustained success necessitates reducing dependence on subsidies, fostering inventive thinking, expanding manufacturing capacities, and utilizing the platform to exchange ideas, technologies, and resources. Key highlights of the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform include aims to strengthen value chains, promote collaboration and co-innovation, encourage scaling up manufacturing, and facilitate resource sharing. Shri Goyal articulated that the clean energy industry must evolve to become self-reliant and detached from continuous government aid. India's accomplishments in clean energy were also acknowledged, with the country surpassing its 2022 target of 200 GW and striving to achieve 500 GW by 2030. Additionally, India's commitment to renewable energy programs, exemplified by Gujarat's early adoption of solar power and the government's 3S approach (Speed, Scale, Skill), has been pivotal in propelling the nation forward. The Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform aspires to drive collaboration, innovation, financing, and resource sharing among domestic companies. This initiative not only reinforces India's dedication to clean energy but also positions the country as a key player in exporting renewable energy technologies.
