State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Sembcorp have entered into a joint venture agreement to explore renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across India. The collaboration will also involve ventures in green ammonia production, emissions reduction for port operations, and other emerging green fuel technologies. BPCL's Chairman, G Krishnakumar, highlighted the significance of this partnership in driving towards a sustainable future and achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. BPCL has set a target of 10 GW for its renewable energy portfolio. Sembcorp, on the other hand, aims to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors using green hydrogen and ammonia, leveraging its 6 GW renewable assets in India. The joint venture's focus is on developing innovative and best-in-class solutions to support India's ambitious climate goals. Both companies are committed to delivering scalable, low-carbon solutions for a sustainable future. The agreement is not expected to materially impact Sembcorp's financials for the year ending December 31, 2025.
