The 7th edition of the G-STIC Conference held in New Delhi brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to delve into innovative solutions for climate change, resource scarcity, and economic development challenges. Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in his address, emphasized India's achievements in biofuel adoption, with targets set for blending percentages and discussions on the post-20 per cent blending roadmap. He highlighted the importance of technology scaling and the economics of energy transitions, especially in the context of developing nations. Puri stressed the pivotal role of green hydrogen in India's energy transition, addressing its potential to revolutionize the country's energy landscape and reduce import dependency. Despite challenges like land scarcity for biofuel production, he sees innovative biofuel strategies as key to meeting local energy needs. The conference also focused on green hydrogen, recognizing its significance in decarbonizing industries, enabling clean transportation, and providing energy storage. Puri outlined the importance of local demand, production, and consumption to make green hydrogen a viable energy source in India. He acknowledged the need to reduce production costs and called for continuous innovation in scaling technology in this sector.
