GAIL India Installs First Green Hydrogen Plant in Madhya Pradesh
Key Ideas
  • GAIL (India) Limited has inaugurated its first Green Hydrogen Plant in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh, supporting the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
  • The plant has a capacity to produce 4.3 TPD of Hydrogen using 10MW PEM Electrolyzer units, with a purity of 99.999%, to be used as fuel initially and later dispensed to retail customers.
  • Renewable power will be sourced through 20 MW Solar power plants at Vijaipur to meet the green power requirement for the electrolyzer, promoting sustainable energy practices.
  • This initiative marks a significant step towards adopting alternate energy sources and reducing carbon footprint in India's energy sector.
GAIL (India) Limited has taken a significant step forward in the realm of sustainable energy by establishing its first Green Hydrogen Plant in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh. In line with the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the inauguration of this plant was graced by dignitaries including Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Pankaj Jain, and GAIL's top officials. The plant is equipped with 10MW PEM Electrolyzer units capable of producing 4.3 TPD of Hydrogen with exceptional purity. Initially, the produced hydrogen will be utilized as fuel alongside Natural Gas for internal processes, with plans to extend its usage to retail customers in neighboring areas through high-pressure cascades. To support this green initiative, GAIL is also establishing 20 MW Solar power plants at Vijaipur to ensure a sustainable source of power for the electrolyzer. This development not only signifies GAIL's commitment to green technology and sustainability but also paves the way for a cleaner and greener energy future in India.
