Gentari, the clean energy arm of Malaysia's Petronas Group, has entered into a significant agreement to provide 650 MW of clean energy to power AMG Ammonia's green ammonia facilities in India. The firm and binding Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed by Gentari Renewables India Castor One Pvt Ltd and AM Green Ammonia India Pvt Ltd will see Gentari supplying 650 MW round-the-clock, carbon-free energy to AMG Ammonia's facilities. As part of the deal, Gentari will establish around 2,400 MWp of renewable energy capacity comprising solar and wind projects, coupled with 350 MW/ 2,100 MWh energy storage to ensure reliable green power supply.
The project execution is planned in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, focusing on meeting AMG Ammonia's hourly power demand. The partnership aligns with the Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RNFBO) framework, enabling AMG Ammonia to target customers globally, including Europe. AMG Ammonia aims to build 5 million tonnes per year of green ammonia plants by 2030, corresponding to a significant portion of India's green hydrogen production goals and Europe's green hydrogen import targets.
Gentari's Country Head for India, Navjit Gill, highlighted the innovative approach of integrating solar and wind projects with energy storage to deliver firm and dispatchable green energy. This initiative supports India's vision of becoming a green energy exporter. Mahesh Kolli, Founder at Greenko Group & AM Green, expressed commitment towards India's green energy ambitions by targeting 5 million tonnes of green ammonia capacity by 2030.
