Oil India (OIL) and Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL) are collaborating to set up a one MW, 400 kg per day capacity green hydrogen plant in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The initiative was highlighted by Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik in response to a query in Rajya Sabha by member Sikander Kumar. Additionally, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL) and OIL have undertaken independent efforts to establish green hydrogen projects in the state. SJVNL had inaugurated India's first multi-purpose green hydrogen pilot project at its Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station last year. The state government's Himachal Pradesh Energy Policy, 2021 includes specific provisions aimed at promoting green hydrogen energy storage. These developments signify a growing focus on sustainable and eco-friendly energy solutions in the region.
