H2Teesside: UK's Leading Low-Carbon Hydrogen Facility with Carbon Capture Technology
Key Ideas
  • Technip Energies has been awarded the FEED contract for the H2Teesside project, set to be one of the largest low-carbon hydrogen production facilities in the UK.
  • The project integrates hydrogen and carbon capture technologies, aligning with the UK's decarbonization targets and positioning Teesside as a hydrogen hub.
  • H2Teesside is part of the East Coast Cluster, aiming to decarbonize industry in the region and contribute to the UK's low-carbon hydrogen economy.
  • The project, with a 2025 final investment decision in sight, highlights Technip Energies' expertise in large-scale technology integration for sustainable solutions.
Technip Energies has secured the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the H2Teesside project in the North East of the United Kingdom, a significant step towards establishing one of the country's largest low-carbon hydrogen production facilities. The project, fully integrated with carbon capture technology, aims to contribute to the UK's ambitious decarbonization targets. The next phase for Technip Energies includes providing the full Engineering Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) package for the project, supporting its potential for a final investment decision in 2025. The integrated H2Teesside facility will connect with other decarbonization initiatives in the East Coast Cluster, with captured CO2 destined for the Northern Endurance Partnership CO2 gathering system. Technip Energies' SVP highlighted the company's experience in technology integration, expressing readiness to deliver innovative, large-scale solutions. Similarly, bp's VP for hydrogen and CCUS emphasized the project's importance in decarbonizing industry in Teesside, foreseeing its role in establishing the region as a prominent hydrogen hub and catalyzing the UK's low-carbon hydrogen economy.
