Hyundai Motor India Limited made a significant announcement at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024 in Chennai regarding the groundbreaking ceremony of its hydrogen innovation centre. This new facility, established in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and Guidance Tamil Nadu, with support from the State Government of Tamil Nadu, aims to revolutionize the field of hydrogen technology. The virtual ground-breaking was led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, with key government officials and representatives present. The strategic partnership between HMIL, IITM, and Guidance Tamil Nadu is focused on accelerating the development and adoption of hydrogen technology in Tamil Nadu and India at large. By establishing this hydrogen innovation centre, Hyundai is reinforcing Tamil Nadu's position as a hub of automotive innovation and driving advancements in sustainable fuels. The initiative not only aims to reduce the state's carbon footprint but also aims to cultivate a skilled workforce for the emerging hydrogen economy. Spanning 65,000 sq. ft. at IIT Madras, the centre is expected to be fully operational by 2026, offering immense potential to enhance the hydrogen ecosystem in India and propel progress in alternative fuels.
